To make this I made a many synths from scratch and chained up Unisons. You may like it as it is the best mix I have made with Reason for a whilst. Oddly enough although it is only 134 is danceable in places.

Hi Nigel, I have finished my second entry for the competition. This song has been made with all the victims of pukkelpop 11 in mind.. it's a dark and sad trance tune.. I think you can feel the dark and sadness in this track, but its still danceable.. Big diffrence if you compare it 2 my first entry. Anyway, i will mail it 2 you soon. I have heard 2 the dubstep entry and i like the tunes, but for me that gerne is a bit 2 monotone, so i cannot judge correct because i prefer trance..

Bass Mom & Dj CrusadeReview: Excellent intro drum n bassline are outstanding, overall composition of this track is phenominal and gives the listener a feeling of orbital or psy trance and the synths are very relaxing and well used in this mix I highly recommend this track to whom ever likes psy trance and orbital styles of music and the outro is right on the mark!!

US2K Review: For the final review of this mix I have chosen David Stolk' s comment: Listening to this track gives me the immediate feeling I am listening to Trance. The elements are all there. Liking the synthwork and melodies that are laidback. The thing that really puts down this track is the weak and thin bassdrum. Even though the bass is airy and deep it doesn`t make up of the kick unfortunately which make this track really everything but punchy. What I noticed as well is that it hasn`t really got an outro, which is really common in trance music. Advice: Try to work on the depth and dynamics of your track, make sure it has a good enough punch. Also take time to actually make a structured track with intro, main, outro. Main could have a breakdown of course.

(US2K says) This was another great trance mix from Belgium that competed well with John Samely. It was made with Reason, and proves how good that package is too for making music. My final score is 9 out of 10, and it will be in a video in a few months, the second part of 'On A Costa Del Crossing'. It is worth waiting for too!

US2K Review: This begins with a fairly soft bass drum with an answering fill on every fourth beat with some percussion. This variation on the four on the floor rhythm is immediately danceable which is interesting as this artist normally prefers a more listening or mellow sound. Twelve seconds of listening time and a lead synch hook (hook 1) is slowly faded in via a smooth filter sweep and a few seconds later a clap enters the mix to accent every four bass drum beat. .

The mix progresses with the sweep causing the synch to rise in pitch up to the 28-second position. At that point there is a momentary change in the drum pattern, I am not sure what is but it could be a cut on the lower bottom end frequencies via equalization. In any case this serves as an intelligent announcement of the closed hi hat that enters the mix at that point. That sweep continues to rise giving the listener a little rush. At around the 52 second play position the bass frequencies are cut once again and a pitch altered snare roll to introduce the next section which is hook 1 with the sweep filter fully open. There is no clap or other percussion so the hook has maximum strength but it slowly loses its control of the mix as a second mellow but faster and more catchy (hook 2) instrument takes the lead. Around the one minute fifteen second position the clap returns and the intensity of the mix elevates, after the closed hi hat/shaker returns and the second hook reaches its full potential. The feeling inside it gave me at that point was nothing short of happy. Just when I thought the energy of the mix could not rise any more a third hook (hook 3) based on the other two hooks enters the mix and the accent clap is backed up by a snare drum.

A short bridge in the music is achieved using the frequency cut tick again and then pitch treated snare roll takes place again and then I am sure the resulting trance anthem after the two minute 42 second position when the main groove returns would give dancers at an event an outstanding natural rush. After these highs the conclusion begins which is the slow fade out of the elements of the mix using filter cuts, equalisation, volume changes, in fact everything Andy had available to reduce the power of the instruments eventually to silence. The first instrument removed is hook 3, and on its full departure the shaker/hat is dropped from the mix instantly after a cymbal crash. Hook 1 and 2 form their own arrangement momentarily before they are also faded out. A drum pattern of snare/clap bass drum is left to finish the mix, with only the faintest hint of the mix hooks remaining. The final end is after three min on a final snare hit of the drum pattern, which has the thud of its lower frequencies, equalized out. .

My evaluation of this mix is that is intelligently structured. The use of fills and breaks to indicate changes in the mix is very skillful. The hooks and melody lines although based on those in my original mix, the fading and arrangement means they are used in a more affective way. The musical arrangements, stereo positioning, equalisation and general mix mastering of a professional standard. The results of all great elements are a very catchy danceable commercial trance mix. My overall final score has to be 10 out of 10. This is well worth a listen to lovers of dance music and would be ideally suited to a field party music event.
