J-Jay's EJay is committed to providing a fun, safe, and secure website for people of all ages. I am dedicated to safeguarding any personal information collected online. Because some of the visitors to this site might be youngsters, I take care that any of the content is appropriate for them as well. I do not ask anyone to disclose more personal information than is necessary for them to participate in any particular site activity, and I try to take steps to prevent youngsters from posting contact information. To help ensure a rewarding online experience for all my visitors, I provide this summary of my information practices. This privacy notice governs the collection and use of information at J-Jay's EJay website. As I continue to offer my visitors new and different types of content and services, I may modify these practices from time to time. However, I will treat all personal information I collect in accordance with the privacy notice in effect at the time any information is collected.
The Information I Receive.
At J-Jay's EJay, I do NOT collect personal information unless site visitors voluntarily provide it to me. For some activities, such as onlin? polls or surveys, I may ask visitors to provide information that is not personally identifiable. This might include your name, city, town, or state of residence, or a favorite artist. For site activities, e.g. mix submissions, I usually ask visitors to provide their name and e-mail address. For sending any mix submissions, I may also ask for personal information about themselves. This is usually limited to their name, artist name, and e-mail address. E-mail addresses are held for contact reasons only, but can be deleted immediately when requested.
If any known youngster under thirteen participates in any activity that requires the collection, retention, and use of personal information, I will also ask for a parent's e-mail address, so that I can notify the parent that I have received personal information from their prodigy. I do not knowingly collect names and e-mail addresses from youngsters under thirteen for these activities without notifying the parent via e-mail, and giving the parent the option to remove their child's e-mail address from the applicable database for that activity. For specific one-time requests I receive from visitors, e-mail addresses are collected and used only in connection with the specified request.
When visitors come to this site, I do NOT collect any personal information, such as the type of computer operating system e.g. Windows '95 or Mac, and browser type e.g. Netscape, Internet Explorer being used, and the domain name of the Internet service provider,e.g. AOL, Tiscali, NTL, BT, etc.
How I Use The Information.
I use visitors' personal information for internal purposes only, such as enabling visitors to enter any contests and to add to any voting lists. I may also use personal information provided to send them e-mail. If necessary, I try to use parents' e-mail addresses to notify them if I have received personal information such as e-mail addresses from their youngsters, and to give parents the option to remove their name from my, or any lists. I use information I collect about others, only to enable visitors to my site to communicate with other visitors, for example, by sending them electronic greeting or e-mail.
I do not keep any personal information I obtain from anyone. I NEVER sell, rent, or otherwise share my visitors' personal information with ANY third parties. I sometimes might use personal information that I collect to improve the design and content of my site, and to improve my visitors' experience on J-Jay's EJay.
Possible Legal Disclosure.
I will NOT use or transfer personal information in ways that are materially different from the ones described above without also providing parental notification of such practices and obtaining consent for any materially different uses.
Cookies and Web Beacons.
The cookies used on this site are only for the purpose of remembering a user in order to benefit artists by ensuring fair voting for a mix takes place as I have had artists complain that the old system could be abused, and also to minimise the manual input by an artist when using mix/mp3 upload tools. This is similar to the registration monitoring required for the forums and mix lab on the empire interactive ejay site.
"Web beacons" are small pieces of code placed on a web page to monitor the behavior, and collect data about the visitors viewing a web page. For example,
web beacons can be used to count the users who visit a web page, or to deliver a cookie to the browser of a visitor viewing that page.
I do not use web beacons on this site, at any time, for this and other purposes.
Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites.
This site contains links to other sites, whose information practices may be different from mine.
Sometimes these sites might conduct contests or sweepstakes that are promoted on them.
My webspace providers' server, as far as I am aware, has in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information I collect online.
